76 77 engine rebuild/ kickstart

Post by GL650GL1000GL1100 »

If I rebuild a 76 or 77 and want to eliminate the kick start can I just use a rear case from a 78 or 79 with no problems

I don't think you will have any issues using a 78 or 79 but I recommend keeping the kick starter because it is easier to manually turn the engine over when you set timing/valves. I use it instead of the engine bolt that was designed for that purpose.
