Randakk Carb rebuilt kit can not be supplied

Post by Bjorn Andersen »

Hi, I am planning to rebuilt my carbs on a 77 GL1000. Randakk rebuit kit is out of stock. It has been out of stock fore a while and they do not know when they are able supply (talking months..)

Is it GL1000 carb kits from other suppliers to recommend ? I need to rebuilt and get the bike up running again.

Can not be possible that only one type of kits can be used...

OldWing Europe ?
Goldwingparts.com?
Z1 parts?

I rebuild a lot of GL1000 carbs and I have found that Keyster makes excellent parts. These were designed in Germany and made in Japan. The quality of the float valves are about the same quality or better than the original Honda ones. They cost much less, so I only use Keyster float valves when I replace the originals with new ones. The Viton rubber is what sets the Randakk kit apart from the others and I believe his kit is the best for the seals and the O-rings; however, nitrile O-rings work fine too. The main thing with the O-rings is to install the size that fits the hole perfectly. The metal in these carbs have eroded over the years and sometimes the holes are slightly different than when they were made, so sometimes you have to install slightly different size rings to get a perfect fit. I order a variety of sizes from TheOringStore.com.

I prefer the Keyster float bowl gasket over all other brands including Randakk's.

If you can't get the Randakk Master kit you are looking for, consider ordering the main plenum seals and rings from Randakk and order 4 Keyster kits. The Keyster kits are available from Germany or Canada.

One place you can buy Keyster parts from:
https://www.siriusconinc.com/products

You should use clear tubes to verify the levels of the fuel in the bowls and this will also help reveal a leaky float valve. You can make your own or buy these that I designed:
