I have a 79 GL1000 that I was trying to upgrade the headlight to a newer LED headlight. I wanted to change out the whole glass headlight instead of just the bulb. It looks like the headlight unit is 7 inches in diameter, so I got a 7 inch headlight with a standard H4 plug. I can plug the headlight in and it works. What doesn't work is the headlight mount. The new headlight doesn't fit. It's slightly too big.
Have I got a non-stock headlight assembly or does the stock assembly accept a slightly smaller headlight?

Re: 79 GL1000 headlight question
Back in the day when I had a 7" light, I found that the aftermarket headlights were the thing that was out of spec. One I gave up on and another I had to modify to make it fit in a stock Honda headlight bucket. I compared it to a new sealed beam bulb and I could see it was not a match.
