GL1100 vs GL1200 Exhaust
HI There
Is there any difference in the exhaust system from a GL1100 Vs GL1200?
My GL1100 exhaust is done, I just traded a V45 Sabre for the 83 GL1100 Interstate and I need to replace the exhaust system to get the certification to put it on the road, that beside a bunch of other things.
I am looking at an used GL1200 aftermarket system on ebay that seems to be in very decent shape but I want to make sure that it will work on my GL1100 before I bid on it, your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Manuel - 83 GL1100 Interstate.

I don't believe they are directly interchangeable. The most common fix is to replace them with Harley take offs.
I got a new set for $40 at the dealer. The customer wanted louder pipes,I got the take offs cheap.

Thanks!
Really?
From which model?
I need the complete system, not just the end muffler.

type in "harley exhaust" in the search box. There's plenty of guys that have done this.

That changes things, if the header pipes are well and truly trashed. There are used systems on EBay and elsewhere, but good ones aren't cheap, and shipping will kill you.Manuel67 wrote:I need the complete system, not just the end muffler.
Thanks
I had our workplace welder repair my head pipe, and then fixed some newfound holes in the mufflers with JB Weld. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Steve

Re: GL1100 vs GL1200 Exhaust
The cross over tube on the stock 1200 exhaust . like everyone said the best way to go is the Harley way ive done it on my 82 with a set of Sportster mufflers and the exhaust on my 83 is about done . So ive got some 1200 headers and Harley touring mufflers all i need to do is make some brackets for the mufflers and someone is sending me a pipe from the headers to the muffler
