oil leaks
I have an 81 1100 that is leaking oil near the fuel pump. Also oil leaking off the left belt cover. Can't track the belt cover leak. It's on the outside of the cover. I'm thinking it's from the center of the front of the motor. Are their any "pop on" gaskets in this area? Does this sound like I have to "crack" the motor to get at seals? The pump is probably the thick gasket against the valve case. Need HELP! Hate to take it to a mechanic and leave a left nut as a deposite!

Re: oil leaks
Two main possiblities cam seal and crank seal both can be changed with the motor in place just take the belt covers off..radiators too. Pull out the old press in the new.
At the pump it's not a gasket but a spacer..many strip the inner bolt on the pump/tach housing so it's not tight that may be your problem or the o ring in the tach slot. I'd pull that and replace the o ring and check the bolt for spin???

Re: oil leaks
My gl1000 had oil leaking out from left side, when I put on side stand after running it would drip on
Ground and also get my boot oily.
I have replaced my left, shifter side, cam seal, and in process of replacing center crankcase seal.
Not technically hard but time consuming. Take your time and read all posts referring to
Replacing cam belts, cause you have to remove cam covers. To just to do cam seal, 10 bucks,
Only have to remove one belt. You don't even have to take radiator off. But if crank seal leaking
Then radiator has to come off and both belts. Just make sure you feel comfortable removing and
Replacing cam belts, which you should learn anyway and you will be fine.

Re: oil leaks
mine also leaks oil, but from the clutch cover. installed new gasket but still leaks. i was sure i removed all the old gasket from both the cover and the housing. it's just a small drip that stops when oil level reaches low on window. next time i take it off i'll use some gasket sealer and hope that stops it.

Re: oil leaks
during installation of waterpump it's easy to pinch an ''o" ring causing leaks. disassemble and try again

Re: oil leaks
Yes. If you have oil or coolant leak after doing a water pump, then you have pinched an O ring during installation - easy to do.

Re: oil leaks
Oils leak from water pump housing..three possibilities. oil seal, any one of three crush washers, large o ring.
Did you replace the crush washers with new ones?, did you replace the oil seal, did you replace the o ring and not pinch it when it was installed???

Re: oil leaks
There are two more sizes in the kit. The first is shown as number 9 in the image below, and there are two of them:laimonas wrote:Thank you.Water pump gasket kit all rings sizes? Please.
They are both 23mm in diameter, and 2.1mm in thickness.
The other one is on the pump cover, shown as number 12:
It is 46mm in diameter, and 2mm thick.
Make sure you use quality material for these O-rings, that will not degrade in the presence of engine oil.
