Location of 7 volt regulator

Post by tunaboy »

Is this regulator located in the instrument cluster or in the false tank on an 1100?

If memory serves me correctly today,it's behind the insturment cluster.Dead center.
The gl1000 had it on the left side under the shelter door.

So you think you need to pull the chrome covers off the back of the gages to replace the regulator?

I don't recall having to do that but is much easier to unbolt the cluster and work on it.

Wilcoy02 is correct, it's located in that center console between the tach and speedometer gauges. You can do it without unbolting it if you're nimble, but it's much easier to unbolt the whole assembly to get to it.

If anyone can help me I cannot find the 7 v regulator for the fuel and temp gauges on my 82 Goldwing gl1100 aspencade, I have removed the instrument cluster and there’s nothing there also I have removed the weight from the front and looked behind it and there’s nothing there as well

Welcome to the forum.

I do not believe The aspencade had one. They were more digital and did not need a volt regulator.
I may be wrong and someone will be along soon.

That started in 83. 82 and earlier had one, mounted in the back of the small pod between the tach and speedometer. You remove the screws on the back of the pod, and it separates (front to back), the regulator is mounted about halfway down.
