hotwire ignition

Post by ryan54401 » Thu Apr 15, 2010 5:23 pm

I just bought an 81 Interstate about 2 weeks ago and someone last week tried to steal the bike. They smashed out the ignition. Was wondering if anyone would know how to hotwire it as there are I think five wires there. A red, black, and maybe green and two browns. Need to get it to the shop so they can look at it but no trailer or anything. Thanks.

You'll see two Brown/White wires. Tie them together.

Then you'll see a Red wire, a Black wire, and a Light-Green/Black wire. Tie all three of these together.

You should be good to go at this point - the bike will operate as if you had the key on "ON".

All you have to do is connect a wire from the battery + to the front side one of the first 3 fuses on the left.
