FRONT WHEEL BRAKE DISC GASKET
Need help on finding gasket material to make a gasket for the front wheel brake discs. I took the discs off and what gasket material remained disintegrated. The IPB shows items 13 and 14, doesn't specify what 13 is but shows item 14 as a shim dampner and requires two. All i saw when i remove my discs was the paper type gasket and didn't really pay much attention to the thickness. I can only imagine that this shim or gasket material is for vibration and may actually position the brake disc. Where can i find and what material do i need to make this from? Help!!

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're talking about. I can't remember ever seeing a gasket of any kind as part of the front rotor assemblies. Where exactly did you find this?

Re: FRONT WHEEL BRAKE DISC GASKET
It's in the Honda parts breakdown catalog for the front wheel. Items 13 & 14.

Re: FRONT WHEEL BRAKE DISC GASKET
I'm looking at the diagram for the wheel, attached. Item 13 is the brake rotor itself, item 14 is one of the bolts that fastens the rotor to the wheel (the bolt goes through the left rotor, through the wheel, through the right rotor, and a nut goes on the bolt on the right side):

Your picture is different from the Honda web site Hondapartsnation.com. Why is your illustration different. I'll go by yours if you say it doesn't need it.

Re: FRONT WHEEL BRAKE DISC GASKET
Aha, now I know what's going on. You've got an 83. I pulled up the wheel for an 83:
Items 11 and 13 are the rotors for an AC, items 14 are the rotors for the C, IC and DC models. What those models apply to? You've got me. I've yet to be able to find a list for them all. Depending on the model, there's either a shim, a spacer, both, or neither.
However it does call it a "Shim, Damping" so I would try to see if any thin gasket material would do. Everywhere I checked online it showed as "unavailable." I wouldn't try paper or cardboard, because it will just burn up with the heat from the brakes.

Re: FRONT WHEEL BRAKE DISC GASKET
this info is all that comes up with a goog search of the topic
i have a worn out right side disc on a 84aspy so got a good used one on ebay & it has whats left of a gasket,
a spare gl1200 wheel i have has gaskets,
also picked up a mag/cast alum wheel from an 83 (dunno what variant) that also has gaskets, to replace my original 82 aspy comstar type wheel
im guessing the aspy(?) variants use a gasket tho partzilla shows/describes a
SHIM, DAMPING
45128-445-630
which seems associated with aspy(?) vented discs only..
dunno why honda uses that wording, a goog image search of the part # shows mostly what looks like gaskets to me & what i am seeing on the stuff i have
https://www.google.com/search?q=45128-4 ... enCE4VFuGM:
looks like typical gaskets to me but maybe more to it??
looks like there are 2 types
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Honda-Fron ... 2405430764
https://goldwing.nl/en/shop/gl-1100/ori ... 445-630-gb
vs full circle
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/HONDA-CB650-CB7 ... 4171809833
https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R4 ... 630&_sop=2
any thoughts on going with a brush on type form a gasket?

Re: FRONT WHEEL BRAKE DISC GASKET
You may not need it.
You can buy sheets in a roll at most any auto parts store, go thin. Thicker than notebookpaper, thinner than carton card board. Regular cardboard from back side of Johnson pad would work. It's just a damper material. Coat it with a coat of acrylic clear if you like.
It's not a gasket, it won't get wet between the disc and hub under pressure.

I think this is what you are looking for.
I've lost a few myself, be very careful when you take the front calipers off as they fall right to the ground.

Re: FRONT WHEEL BRAKE DISC GASKET
My apologies. Work fatigue. if you need those shims for the calipers now you know where to find them. Good luck in your remedy.

Re: FRONT WHEEL BRAKE DISC GASKET
stumbled on this thread which seems to confirm that the 'shim dampener' (gasket) 45128-445-630 is required with some discs, for proper clearances
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=26623&p=233121&hil ... et#p233121
afaik, this part is n/a tho i do see them on ebay (not cheap tho), quite a bit of info out there googling 45128-445-630, maybe some here
https://www.cmsnl.com/products/shim-pam ... U1woXspA4k
edit - then again, partzilla info shows the gasket called out (or compatible) for interstate models that have a thinner solid disc

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=26623&p=233121&hil ... et#p233121
for stock oem parts gl1100 & 1200 line, my research/understanding so far is the 'shim dampener' (gasket) 45128-445-630 is required or goes with the front vented aspy rotors setup only,Installation:
Straightforward with a caveat. You DO need to use the factory spacers between the rotors and the wheel hub to obtain the proper clearance between the rotor and caliper carrier. Otherwise the rotors are an exact fit in place for the factory rotors. If you omit the spacers, the rotors will rub against the caliper carrier slots when the wheel axle is tightened. This will not be an issue if you have the carriers for the 10mm rotors. My spacers came off easily and I reused them both. They are made of a paper like material almost like a gasket and measure 0.025" (0.065 mm) thick. The rear rotor has no such issues.
