1100 mag wheels taking apart???

Post by nlovern » Tue Mar 24, 2015 7:41 am

Nathan here with ol Scrappy. I wanted to ask a question, I want to take the mag wheels apart to paint n clean them, center is bolted and rim is aluminum riveted. If I drill out rivits and use high grade bolts with locetite will that work to put them back together? I can get aluminum rivits to use also if needed.
And I noticed when I took my spark igniters off, the back looked like they got so hot the resien melted n ran down wires. I assume there bad???
Thanks everyone. Got just a bare frame now n cleaning it up to repaint.

DO NOT disassemble the Comstar wheels, it even states that on the hub of the wheel itself.
As for the igniters leaking out the black goo, that is pretty much a normal thing, they are likely still good. Just clean out as much as you can and refill with something like epoxy to keep out the moisture. 8-)
Ride safe, Todd
