Finished up my gauge cluster retrofit this afternoon after work. Pretty pleased with it.

Here they are after last years upgrade to a digital voltmeter:

Here it is after today's completion, taken with flash:

Taken with flash off (a little blurry)

Thanks for the concern. Last year I rode with the voltmeter installed and I could read it fine on the brightest days.
The OAT gauge and the clock are both the same brightness as the voltmeter so I really don't expect any issues. The compass shouldn't be an issue either way.

They look great! Have you tried them in the dark night - are they too bright, or do they dim down?

They have a extra wire on them that if you wire it to ground, they stay at full brightness, but if you wire them to your headlight wire they go to half brightness for night. Since our bikes always run headlights, I hid a toggle switch inside the left pocket to turn them to half brightness at night. It definitely makes it easier to glance at the gauges at night to check everything with digital outputs then doing the same with analog. Seems to keep my eyes more focused on where I am headed, which is a good thing :)

Hi there!

I am afraid I must revive this old thread, if possible. I have a 1982 GL1100i that I am considering putting a gauge cluster in, but I’m unable to ascertain whether I can use the round gauge mount, or if I must use the square version?

Would you have any insight on this? I very much want to add the red digital gauges to my bike, I really like the look in your pictures.

I believe you will need the round mount to do what I did. The gauges where the exact size of the openings and you then just need to install and wire. I have seen the metal mount and plastic over for them on Fleabay, if you need it.
