83 GL1100 Forks

Post by roallen » Sun Jan 29, 2017 12:17 pm

Hello All
i have an 83 GL1100 she is my daily rider and i have no other transportation.
The front forks need new seals i have another set of forks to use while i rebuild the original set. my question is what would be the fastest remove the triple tree and remove forks as a unit or to remove forks one at a time. also any procedures on doing this would be nice.
thank you

roallen,

Agree with RBGERSON. Removed forks on my 83 last weekend, in preparation for paint. Very easy, took about 30 minutes. Leave triple tree in place and zip tie the calipers up and away so they don't fall and damage the brake lines
