Pull engine or remove swingarm???

Post by cmeier65 »

Howdy again. 83 gl1100I. I'm wanting to remove and clean the spark advance (vacuum) module. I already have the carbs off and now am wondering if it may be easier to just yank the motor to get to it? Rather then removing the swingarm, making the special tools, etc. does anyone have any advise on getting this out any easier?? Thanks Honda for making it so accessiblel!!!!!!!

It's not that hard to remove the engine.
With it removed you can really clean it up. Plus you can clean out the oil pan on the bottom with the engine removed.

I had no idea the first time I took an engine out. I had it out in about 2 1/2 hours. Biggest headache was the circlip on the drive boot.

You did well then. The first time I did it it took me 2 1/2 hours including taking curse and beer breaks just on that clip :x :x
