Gauge cluster on tank

Post by ljurgens »

Hello,
I have seen pictures of a gauge cluster mounted to the top of the door on the tank. Can anyone point me to where I might find one for an 83 1100?

Are you perhaps referring to the air compressor gauges on an earlier Aspencade?

Could be, I've just seen some pictures of a gauge cluster with what looks like 3 gauges across it at the top front of the false tank.

I think what you are referring to is a gauge set from a 78 to 79 GL1000 Tank pod. Here is a picture from Ebay and the link.

Seeing it now on the tank, I see that it is integrated in. Looks cool though. Thanks for the pictures and descriptions, I think I'll skip going down this path.

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life but Is it possible to mount these on a gl1100? I know they didn’t originally come with these but I think they look really cool and would love to have some on my 82.

Late to the party, however, your 82 (Aspencade) had these on the top of the console. These are mounted on the tank that unless you replace the False Tank on yours would not work for a couple of reasons.
1. The 80-83 had dual opening lids on it.
2. The 78-79 years had a single opening lid.
Does that mean it is not possible? Absolutely not, however, remember you will have to modify yours to a single opening lid to accommodate the gauges. Of course anything is possible.

You can do anything, but not everything.
Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. :ugeek:
