Two wires under 1100 right cylinders ?

Post by DocRotknee »

There's a couple of wires coming out under the front of the right cylinders near the forward exhaust and one has been very hot . Can someone tell me what these two wires go to ? I haven't worked on a Goldwing since 85 and it was in excellent shape . This one needed a saviour so I'm trying to resurrect it . It was treated poorly.

On my 1980 1100 there's only one wire coming from there - it goes to the neutral switch.

Hey thanks Denver ! I had no idea what they went to ! They just sort of dissappear into the casing . I think it's two of them but it may have been one fried one . I chased it up to a red connector plug but didn't trace it further. So that's the neutral indicator
ground ?

The neutral switch is on the side of the engine under the right side cylinder head, right next to the frame so you can't get to it. When the transmission is in neutral, the switch grounds out that wire.

Well , the engine is on the bench and I have new Head gaskets so I guess I should see if that wire is roasted all the way and repair it .

After close examination there are two wires not one.

Hm, mine's an '80, not '81, and it's a STD, not Interstate. Where do the two wires go? One should be neutral switch, not sure about the other.
