tach for tuning

Post by ride dont hide »

Looking for suggestions on a tach for tuning the pilot screws. Need one in small rpm increments for adjusting and fine tune one at a time. Cant hear so well (old and a lot of rock and roll) so need a visual. One that clamps to the plug wire but cannot find on e-bay. Ideas??? THANKS!

I use this one... It also works for lawn mowers, generators, anything with a spark plug!

Also look at a Color tune spark plug. I think it is what I will go with.

Has anybody tried the android app called Rpm gauge? Listed under acoustic tachometer?
Sounds interesting... No pun intended

I have a very old analogue dwell/tachometer meter - very versatile - but don't know if you can still buy them...

Just did quick search - they are available on ebay.

How would ya connect the analogue? Can you wrap a wire around the spark plug wire then connect the alligator clip to that?

I've not tried it yet.Its suppose to listen to the engine noise and determine the rpm by some mathematical audio spectrum analysis that a cylinder makes when it fires.
