Parked bike for 1 month, now solenoid just clicks.

Post by halcombrick »

Hey guys, I had a blowout and my bike has been setting since July 25th. Well I went to move it the other day and when I hit the start button it cranked over about 3 times then the solenoid started clicking. I switched to a different battery and the same thing. Crossing it over with a screwdriver does nothing. I have noticed after the solenoid clicks I lose all instrument and head lights until they gradually fade back in. The starter couldn't have went bad just setting there could it? Thanks for the help guys. Rick

Remove the spark plugs. You probably have hydrolock cylinders. Put rags over the plug holes and try the starter. Liquid will squirt out a long way without the rags.

Still, the battery and hydrolock suggestions are good ones.

Would love to know that if OP pulls his plugs and gas comes out. Dangerous situation for the rods. Keep us posted.

Hi,
I did learn the hard way to keep battery charged and a use a Very good battery. it cost me a starter. and a lot of grief with starter relays.
Battery tenders over a couple of weeks sitting will keep stress down also. clock is a juice user.
