1100 STARTING ISSUES

Post by jlaw1017 »

Changed the starter. Now I go to start it an it just clicks. I have been going thru the forums here an have traced thru all the wiring. Can not get the starter to turn over. Replaced battery with known good battery. After playing with this for hours... I removed the plugs an the bike cranks over quite well. Guessing this is what is called hydrolocked. Really unsure how to proceed at this point. It's like there is to much compression for the starter to turn the bike over with the plugs in. Any help would be Awesome!

If it has compression, It will run.

Out of curiosity... is the starter you put in brand new, rebuilt, or used? Is it a genuine Honda part of aftermarket? When you pulled the plugs and cranked, you would have cleared the hydrolock, so it should crank with the plugs back in. I suspect a weak starter motor or weak battery.

You have a fuel leak that gets into a cylinder(s)..you need to always turn off the petcock..and you have to pull the carbs to find the cause do the leak..floats not right, leaking o ring several possibilities, float needle seat dirty..are the main things.

If yoiu know which cylinders had fuel in them that helps to ID the leak/carb.

Pull the plugs and turn it over. If there is gas in the cylinders it will come out pretty fast and pretty far. Cover the holes.
