New turn signals, 2 wires for a 3 ping adapter.
Hi there, second post today, but I purchased some turn signals for my 1981 Gl1100I, I wanted to go naked so I received these turn signals and they only have the two wires, in the description of the item it tells me that there are two wires, but neither are for daytime running. But my Goldwing has a 3 ping connector to the left and right turn signal. How in the world do I connect a 2 wire(green and black) to a 3 ping (green, orange/white, and a solid orange)
I tried to connect them, I connected the green and orange and left the center orange/white alone and got the light to activate but would not blink. My issue is the blinking, how do I get this to work?

The green wire goes to ground, the orange to the turn signal lead. The parking/running light lead is best taped up.

usually double filament bulbs have a different mount so a double filament bulb will not fit in your single filament bulb housing!! If it does fit, you are still missing the correct connection at the base of the bulb and the third wire that you need to connect to your wings harness. Basically what you have now will allow the indicators to work as indicators, but not also as running lights. If you want indicators and running lights you will need to buy new indicators that have the correct mount and wiring for a twin filament bulb.
Sorry gary

I have a 1980 gl1100. tried to install new front signals and they lit up very weakly and would not flash. I only have 2 wires coming from the bike to original signals (both wires are black). I ordered new signals with 2 wires. I discovered that the old signals get ground from the fork bracket they are mounted on. How can i make my new signals work?

It would appear that you have a bike with wiring that has been "butchered" a bit. The front turn signals should on one side have an orange, an orange with white stripe and a ground. The other side is light blue and light blue with white stripe plus ground. They are two filament bulbs. The rear are one filament bulbs. On the front the "weaker" of the filaments is running light and the other turnsignal. There is no running light other than the tail light at the rear. In any event suggest you download a wiring scheme for your bike and go from there. Very hard to visualize unless you know what to look for. Some aftermarket lights work as you say and get their ground through the mounts. I have a 78 that I put new lights on and had to ground the units to the head light housing so that they operated properly. A wiring diagram is your friend. You can download a color schematic for your bike at the top of the forum page under "Manuals" Here:GLELEVEN wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 7:36 am I have a 1980 gl1100. tried to install new front signals and they lit up very weakly and would not flash.
