Got 1982 gl1100 i interstate love the bike runs great but replaced clutch cable but still does not release when handle pulled...... ajusted it and still does not release and hangs in gear

Has it been sitting a while? If so the plates could be stuck together.

Put the bike on the centrestand - or get the rear wheel off the ground. Start the bike and zip tie the clutch lever back as far as it will go - then put the bike in gear, then gently apply the rear brake several times you will feel it when it breaks loose, and the rear wheel should stop spinning. After a few minutes it will probably release. A nice fresh oil change might also help if it has been sitting.
