I am assuming you are talking about an 1100.

I had that problem long time ago.
There is a diode wrapped in the wiring harness at the mid thigh left side. It is not easy to find. I know I had to replace that diode in the past. I'm not certain when it was the neutral coming on w/ clutch or another problem. But check that diode out.

It is wrapped in the black tape around the harness with in an inch or two.

You got it. Neutral light coming on when you squeeze the clutch is 100% the symptom of a failed diode.

The diode looks like a small box with two connecting tabs on it. You can see a picture of it, plus lots more information on replacing it here: Neutral light will only come on when clutch lever is pulled
