1983 GL 1100I, Painting Honda nameplates

Post by arseatea »

Is there a secret way to paint the plastic Honda nameplates? My son painted them all black, with the idea of wiping off the black paint and exposing the chrome-like finish on each letter. That did not work very well. Is there a better way? Also, while I have you, is there a set of schematics on this site? I have the dvd manual, but the schematics are so tiny, I can hardly see them, much less read them. BTW, we've gotten the bike running good and now for a little sprucing up with repainted nameplates and new wiring. Thanks for all your help. 2nd BTW. I have the bike in my garage now on the kick stand. I tried to put it on the center stand today and I am just glad that my wife's Lexus was far enough away that I did not hit it. Man, these bikes are heavy. I had to go get my neighbor to help me up-right it. Thanks again..Ron

I painted mine with a very very small paint brush and a toothpick.

Ride your rear tire up onto a 2 x 6. A lot easier to put the bike on the center stand.

Check the top of page under manuals.
