Help with my 1980

Post by Claveck89 »

I have a 1980 goldwing 1100. I was trying to get it to turn over but never did. It all of a sudden stop even trying to turn over and crank like the battery was dead bit it was still getting power. I checked the battery and charged it up. Now the battery is good And I have power to it but it won't even try to turn over. Please help! Thanks in advance.

I assume you are hearing the starter relay click but nothing turns.... Check for hydrolock - remove sparkplugs and try to turn it over. If a carburetor float valve stuck it may have filled a cylinder with gas. While sparkplugs are out, shift it into 5th gear and try to push the bike forward with the clutch out to see if you can turn the motor that way.....

+1 easy stuff first check for hydrolock, next broken or out of synch timing belts. I'd turn the engine using the access at the fly wheel rear of the engine, 17mm bolt head then inside 12mm only turn clock wise..plugs out..if it turns a bit then lock sup..probably a valve hanging up..bent or out of time..back to belt check.

If you have hydrolock turn off your petcock when ever you stop will"fix" it but you really need to find the internal fuel leak in the carbs several possibilities..floats set wrong, floats hanging up, bad float needle tip, bad float needle seat, leaking o ring at carb to plenum, leaking plenum casket. Lots of how to threads about finding our which it is do a search.
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,
