oil dip stick kit for GL 1100

Post by Max2856 »

I have searched this site high and low and none of the links that refer you to the oil dip stick conversion are valid. Trying to confirm the oil level through the site glass is ridiculous. Does anyone know where this kit can be purchased?

Sadly, the aftermarket loses interest in vehicles after a few years.
Your bike is now at least 34 years old.
The only option for accessories for these bikes, in most cases, is to find used parts, or buy a bike with the accessory and transfer it to yours.
Or make your own.
This is how my own bike got all of the accessories that it has on it. I bought other bikes, and made my own.

Old bikes, especially old non-Harleys, aren't easy.

I had one on my 83 Interstate. It leaked like my old Shovelhead, and had about four different junctions. I could've spent some time and made it work, but I pulled it off and bought the plug and washer from the Honda dealer. Only one small leak now that I haven't looked for yet. I could send it to you if you want for the shipping.

Really easy to make your own. All you need is a 90 elbow - #6(metric) to 3/8" pipe thread. a 3/8 pipe to 3/8 compression fitting, and go to your local hot rod shop and get a universal dipstick and tube for about 20 bucks. Helps to have a small pipe bender to get everything lined up. Cost me about $ 50 Canadian, including the bender, and about 2 hours of my time. Looks and works great.
