Source for Reproduction Handlebar Switches

Post by Good Hondog »

Hello all. I just made an inquiry to Parts N More about a possible future production run of left side handlebar switches to go with their right side switch assemblies they are already currently producing. I asked about the 1980-81 models specifically but I think 82-83 model bikes would be excellent candidates for reproduction switches too. All years 80-83 are now obsolete and unavailable from Honda. Parts N More replied back stating they do not currently have plans to produce these switches but implied they would consider it if enough people expressed interest in wanting them. I would like to ask the membership here, if they could spare a few minutes, to send off a quick email to tech@partsnmore and request for them to start producing those switch assemblies for whatever year GL1100 you own. Thanks to those here that are willing to contact Parts N More and encourage them to get these into production.

I find the '83 right h'bar switches dead easy to rebuild. No need for reproduction unless damaged, methinks.

.... and if the housing is damaged, it's probably made of ABS like everything else. You could make up a batch of ABS slurry like you would use for tupperware repair, glue it back together, fill in holes, and use your dremel tool to machine out anywhere needed to make the internals fit again.

Good job members! Thanks to those GL1100 owners who have sent a request to tech@partsnmore addressing the lack of left side switch controls as I requested. Remember that the right side switches are already available and are a non issue, so no need to concern yourself with them. If you haven't sent an email to Parts N More yet, please do. Thanks.
