Sissy bar on 1980 Goldwing

Post by Mikeybob007 » Thu May 03, 2018 5:06 pm

I've been given a project bike. Does anyone know if a 1978 CB 750 sissy bar and mount will bolt onto a 1980 Goldwing? Thanks in advance.

I don't think I would buy one without comparing pictures of the bolt holes. My bet is that the 750 backrest is too narrow.

Thank you. It would be a miracle if it was easy to do, but I'm hoping.

I'm pretty sure its not going to work with the stock gl1100 seat. The rear of the gl1100 seat being tapered like it is, will not let the passenger lean back far enough to touch the sissy bar even if it did bolt up.
I just fabracated me one for my 1980 a few days ago. I used a gw luggage rack, cut off the unused ears, and took a peice of 1/2 (?) Round bar and fabracated one "kinda backwards", and u-bolted it to the luggage rack, then painted it black. I welded a peice of flat plate in at the top, and then made a sheepskin back rest to match my sheepskin seat (with Gods help of corse). Looks pretty good-took some time.
I wish i knew how to upload a picture with this phone, but i dont. Its a sampson.
My exercise bike is a goldwing.

Thank you for the great information. I don't have your skills so I'll have to enlist friends, provided I can find the parts.
