My name is Dave and recently purchased a customized 1983 gl1100. Looking forward to all the great info available here. I’m in search of a speedometer and or a work around equilivant. I was referred to this page by M. Santos. Thanks in advance looking forward as I start my Goldwing journey.

Nice looking bike! There are a few options for a speedometer:

- Hooking up a mechanical speedometer to the original speedometer drive
- Putting a hall-effect sensor near the driveshaft/u-joint and using it to actuate an electronic speedometer
- Putting a magnet on the rear wheel rim and using a hall effect sensor to actuate an electronic speedometer
- Using a GPS in speedometer mode
