Advice on welding centerstand mount

Post by Wessel81 » Mon Jun 11, 2018 1:32 am

Hi,

When preparing my frame for some local repainting I noticed a small hole in my centerstand mount. Initially it was a crack but with a screwdriver I could bend it inwards (unfortunately, outwards would have been better for welding, but I think I can still bend it outwards). Steel around the hole and also around the smaller crack (just a little bit lower) is solid.

What would you do? Have it welded? Or do you think it will still be strong enough? And just leave it as is, give it a thorough antirust treatment inside and outside the mount and close the gap with epoxy or so. Or maybe there is another way of enforcing it without welding?

Thanks, Wessel

A good welder will be able to do that.
If at first you don't succeed, hide the evidence.

Thanks, yesterday I noticed more (and bigger) holes in the mount, so it will definitely be welding :?
