How to replace your speedometer cable/speedometer itself

Post by dph03 » Fri Jun 15, 2018 12:38 am

I read your forum: How to replace your speedometer cable. Mine is screaming. I put on a new cable and lubed with standard old grease. I'll go get your suggested lube today. So I disconnected it from the speedometer, the cable is next to my speedometer but not connected and is not screaming.

Can the problem be the speedometer itself? If so, how do I remove it?

Remove the 2 acorn nuts on the back.

As Wilcoy said, just unscrew the cable behind the speedometer, and on the wheel is a screw. Be careful unscrewing that small bolt at the wheel and not strip it. I had to use the hammer thingy to get mine off. May hit it with PB Blaster before you try. I would also lube the new cable.
