GL1100A Brake Lights Don't Work

Post by dakotanator » Mon Jul 16, 2018 8:12 am

1983 GL1100A. 47k mi. All other lights work....tail, turn, headlight........just no brake lights. Checked switches, they have "continuity". Shorted the wires after I took them off front and back switches.......no brake light. Put multi-meter on voltage.......1.5v...???? Bad connection / connector...?

Main problem is FINDING WHERE the wire goes. I would prefer NOT to tear off the fairing, and cut open the harness to trace the wire.

Anyone have any ideas on where little GREEN / YELLOW wire ends up at..? I'm thinking it's just a bad connection at a dirty, or corroded connector, but...????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1.5v on the green white wire? And the turn signals and horn work? The green/yellow goes to the rear light assembly.

DaveO430.......got the lights to work. Just what I HOPED, bad connection. Cleaned it up. All lights work now.

Thank you for your reply. Been working on/off of this '83 Aspencade for 3 years......finally 99% there.

Of course......it was the very LAST connection in the line to be cleaned..!!
