rear wheel play

Post by ride dont hide » Sun Jul 22, 2018 8:51 pm

I noticed a very slight rear twitch when cornering at low speed from the '83. Put the bike on the center stand and found I can move the rear wheel a slight amount when grabbing from the bottom. Surely there should be no play at all but asking someone to check out theirs when on the center stand. I did check axle torque and am looking for ideas before I tear it apart. Anyone have something similar happen to them? Bearings are new when tire installed about 3000 miles back. Thanks Guys!

If the play is in the bearings, well it could be the bearings.

There should be no play at all. If you are seeing some, you need to determine if it is the wheel bearings (swingarm isn't moving) or the swingarm pivot bearings (swingarm is moving as well).
