Wiring of after market headlight
HI i am new here but not to the GL1100 club. My question is I bought a 1983 GL1100 that is partially started as a cafe style bike. The fairing and all body parts are all stripped off. I need to hook up an after market headlight and also trying to replace the digital display with a new digital speedo and Tach. Does anyone know what wires i need to use to connect these new parts. It looks like the wire harness is set up for the fairing to be there. Any help would be appreciated. I do have a wire diagram but it does not she the digital display wiring only it looks like standard wiring? Thank you in advance

Re: Wiring of after market headlight
If you look inside the box between the forks (fairing weight), you will find a regular headlight connector and the rest of the wires connected to the fairing harness.
The wires from the speed sensor are in a 3 pin connector & are Bl/Br, Bl/y , G/Bl but I don't know the purpose of each. In a 4 pin connector are the wires from the ignition that go to the tach, a Y/Bu & a Y/G. You probably only need 1 of those to make your tach work.

Re: Wiring of after market headlight
Hi guys thank you for the info. I just found out i have a 1983 Aspencade not an Interstate. I am OK with the digital instrument cluster. But the 3 prong plug for the headlight is not there. I have the wiring diagram and I will have to trace out the headlight wires and try to find a 3 prong plug to hook up headlight or get a cool LED headlight that i can just wire up.
