Led conversion of headlight

Post by JamtJrus »

I felt the need of uppgrading the headlight on my 1100. Bought conversion bulbs on Wish and put one in earlier today. Seams better than halogen but can’t realy say before I have tried them during a ride in the dark. Will probably buy auxiliary light to but those dont help on low beam.

Now I have tested it for a few rides in the dark. can probably better with a mor expensive bulb but it's definitely better than the halogen bulb. Low beam is a lot brighter and wider and high beam both wider and more range. So it was a well spent 25$.

The problem with the old headlights is that the reflective coating on the inside...isn't that reflective anymore. You'd get a lot more light by replacing the entire headlight unit with an LED unit that just bolts right in, instead of replacing a bulb. It will be more than $25, but you'll get a ton of light out of it (and less power draw than halogen, of course).

Well, my reflector is quite ok but I agree with you. A led headlight would be better but that would change the look of my bike to much and I want it to look original.

I'm in the same boat- my 83 needs an upgrade, and I'm having trouble finding up to date recommendations for products, something that's currently available given how fast this market is changing...
Any ideas? I think a replacement for the entire headlight would be best, but searching amazon just shows a lot of harley stuff.
