Hello all,
I've noticed a few times recently on my 83 Aspencade with the digital dash that every now and then, my gear indicator will very briefly flash "N" for neutral while in other gears. I've only seen it happen 2 or 3 times, and it's only for a split second, but I'm not changing gears while it's happening. It's while under normal throttle. I've seen it happen in third gear, but I think it's happened in second gear, also.
Any ideas?

Re: Mystery Neutral?
Could be the wire to the selector switch is rubbing somewhere and grounding occasionally or it could be the switch itself.

Re: Mystery Neutral?

Thanks guys I'll check the wiring and make sure there's no exposed wire or loose or dirty connections. I can't see that the switch is dirty. I had the front cover off last fall installing a new water pump and made sure everything was clean and moving freely.

Re: Mystery Neutral?
The switch that gets "dirty" is inside the engine..can be pulled lower right side front cover with four bolts. hard to get out without spreading the fraem a bit. Lots of threads on how to do it..

Re: Mystery Neutral?
Still there is no goldwing with 4 screws holding the neutral switch on. Earlier models had it in the right side of the case, 1 screw holding it and very hard to get to. You may be thinking of the oil screen cover.
