DIFFERENCE OF WEIGHT

Post by pieceofmetal »

Hi All :)

I'm looking for a GL1100 and I would like this version

http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/ ... g%2080.htm

but I found a really good offer of this model

http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/ ... encade.htm

the question is: "is possible to turn the 1983 version into the 1980 one?"

the two models have a difference of 50Kg, what's the root cause of this difference? If I remove the bags and the other stuff may I reach the original dry weight of 260kg?

thanks in advance

Yes you can. The hardest part will be finding the ears that hold the headlight, once the fairing is removed.

so you can confirm that there are no some heavy pieces that can not be removed to turn it back into 1980 model style?

The 80 you show is what is called a standard. They made a standard all the way up to 1984. Yes you can remove all the things that are not on the standard and make your 83 into a standard but you will have to have some other parts like the headlight brackets mentioned, also the turn signals.

thanks, I think that it may be hard but the standard pieces can be find. the most important part is that is possible to reduce the total weight just removing the added parts
