randakks procedure for starting after long layup

Post by winguyjo »

i am going to be following randakks procedure re "starting a gl1000 (i have a gl1100) after a long lay-up".
will be following to the letter but have one minor sticking point ... he suggests using 30w oil for the first start after draining the existing oil.
around here, 30w can only be found in 5 gallon buckets; far more than i will ever use. can 10w-30 be used with good results ?

thanks
joe

Sure you can not a big deal.............you could add a little sea foam too run for 100-200 easy miles you'll be amazed at what comes out..and then do another oil change, filter etc.
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,

thanks rgb, will do.
i am curious about seafoam as it seems to have its supporters and detractors. will give it a shot on this bike.
