get rid of oil cooler ?

Post by winguyjo »

i am going through the resurrection process on my 1980 interstate.
a previous owner had installed an oil cooler.
i am wondering whether i should just get rid of it.
i live in vancouver, canada, where the temps go over 90F/30C for only a couple of days a year.
i don't have a trailer hitch or sidecar and have no intention of having either.
to me the oil cooler seems like extra weight and extra potential leak points.
get rid of it or keep it ?

Bike was designed to run without it. I can see where it would be helpful pulling a trailer, but in your milder climate and no trailer, I can't see that it would be of any benefit...
