Brake line length

Post by corvette86 »

I inherited my brothers 83 Gl 1100 interstate and I’m having to replace the brake lines that are gone. I need to know how long the are to be so I can have them made. Hope someone can help.

on my 82 the fronts are 2x 19" and the one coming from the master cylinder to the distribution block is 22". as for the rear line I ordered a kit for it and didn't check the length.

Apples and Oranges....

83 has linked brakes.
There is only ONE front line from the right handlebar, with no splitter, going straight to the caliper (I can't recall which caliper, but it will be the one with the LARGER pistons, which is marked on the caliper. My recollection is 32mm).

The second front caliper (25mm pistons) is fed from the rear Master Cylinder.

In short, the lengths you were given for the 82 will be of SOME help, but are NOT the same.

I suggest that you don't order new lines based on that information alone.

When all else fails, RTFM!
