What is the official Honda parts site?
Is it Honda parts nation, Honda parts house, or another site? There are alot of Powersports parts sites with Honda in their name. I want to order directly so I won't have to wait for items on backorder.

There is no one "official" Honda parts site. Honda does not sell parts directly to consumers.jeremysmith035 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 7:58 pm What is the official Honda parts site?

So your choice is to go to your local $tealership and order from their parts counter, or order online from any of the parts houses. I use Cyclemax for all of mine, but there are quite a few others.

I use Partzilla and have had good luck with them, but I always check a couple of other parts suppliers such as HondaPartsNation (have bought from them)etc. I buy from the supplier with the best price and lowest shipping charge for each order. They all seem to be very competitive price wise even though those prices may be higher than you think the parts are worth. I also get the part # and plug that into Ebay, quite often there is a dealer selling the NOS part you need. Got my last speedo cable for an 83 standard that way. Shop around and try find the best price, it seems that the OEM supplier network somehow all have the same parts available. There is a huge list of unavailable parts and that is where I find Ebay is "my friend".

Re: What is the official Honda parts site?
I was reading a post the other day that made sense, especially for hardware stuff like nuts/bolts as well as certain electrical doodads and sensors:
Honda didn't just re-invent all parts just for motorcycles, many of these parts are also used in cars. Stuff like the funky shoulder bolt that you can't just replace from the hardware store, or an oil pressure sensor might just be available from a Honda automotive dealer. And the GL1200's with fuel injection use a lot of automotive parts in the injector system. According to the post I read, the parts common to both cars and bikes use same part # for both product lines. Obviously you are NOT going to find a Stator or motorcycle brake pads, but chances are good that certain carburetor parts (o-rings, needle/seat, jets) were also used in some cars, parts like that.
So before you totally give up on an OEM part, it might also be worth a call to the local Honda automobile $tealership with your part # to see if maybe THEY can chase one down.......

As a suggestion for buying OEM parts in the USA on line.
Try below and they have the microfiche for OEM parts and also give you options for aftermarket/universal non OEM parts under the the same category. IE Body & Fenders give you OEM plus options.
This should be the link for 81 GL1100i but you can change as needed if you go to the home page and select OEM year/bike/model.

On many long journeys have I gone. And waited, too, for others to return from journeys of their own. Some return; some are broken; some come back so different only their names remain.
