I am embarrassed to admit to this hack-job rebuild, but here goes...
I got the parts with my Randakk's carb kit, and I read his blog about technique.
But I failed miserably in the "carefully drill out the rivets".
Being Mr. Frugal, I pressed on with the rebuild rather than source a replacement petcock.
I drilled a clearance hole for 3mm screws. I don't know the actual size... probably 1/8", or slightly smaller. My bits are old, chewed up & hard to read. I mic'd it at about 3mm diam. The local hardware had 3mm- 0.5 screws of various lengths. Got 2 screws, with 2 nuts each. Re-assembled, with two jam nuts at the back, and a drop of blue locktite. Looks bad, but seems to be leakfree. No one can see the backside once installed, so I won't have to "explain" it to casual observers.
Aside from the self-respect issues, do you guys think this is acceptable????

It is totally acceptable.
I strongly believe function over cosmetics.

Or you could use nyloc nuts. I prefer to use stainless steel on hardware when possible. It helps keep to have rust free hardware.
