Frozen fuel door lock

Post by Paul_Oregon »

Hey Gang,

My son owns a 1981 Naked Wing and late last year his key stopped working in the fuel compartment door. We let it go over the winter but just recently he drove the bike to a locksmith who said the lock was frozen (meaning "unpickable"). So, I guess we're looking at drilling it out, but neither of us has ever attempted that kind of procedure before. I'm wondering if anyone here has some experience and can give us any tips.

Thanks!

Just remove the tank itself: How to remove and replace your false tank

Four bolts and the tank just pulls off, Then you can remove the lock from the underside and replace it.
