GL1100 Front Forks

Post by jpatt1555 »

Hi All, I have a question about my front forks. I wrecked my goldwing back in the spring of 17 and have been putting it back together or a limited budget ever since. My right front fork is busted and I came across this great deal, but it's a GL1100I Interstate fork set and it doesn't look like mine. I just wonder if it will work on my bike. Any comments would be helpful.

probably from an 83 and the forks are different..I think 80-81 were the same but 82 and 83 changed. so calipers etc. won't fit unless you change the whole front end. check aparts fiche and if the numbers are diff. then so are teh forks.

Hi, thanks for the reply. My bike is a 82 GL1100, the forks I'm looking at are 83 Interstate. Where could I check the numbers on them ?

Is your triple tree OK? One of the moderators on another forum passed away and I'm helping his widow clear out parts and bikes. The last time i was there I spotted some fork tubes with lowers in one of the sheds....I didn't take a good look at them at the time. I'm going back around the end of this month and if you still need them I can pull them out and take some pictures. Parts are in Wintersville Oh...I'm in Pittsburgh. LMK

Not on teh forks but in a parts diagram on almost any parts source website.

Ok, I found out the interstate forks will not work on my bike because of the trac braking system. I only need the right fork which was damaged. I found one on Ebay, but other concerns are preventing me from purchasing it at this time.

Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by the lower slider. Everything on my fork is okay except the part that holds the seals is damaged at the top. The insert is undamaged.
