Headlight connection after fairing removal

Post by Buzz2019 »

Hello. I'm in process of removing the fairing from my 82 gl1100. I bought the fork ears and headlight bucket to mount the headlight, I'm just not sure how to connect the headlight after. Will the light connect to the bike or would I need to build/buy a new harness? - thanks!!

Your light connection will be intact in the bucket of wires. No need to get another harness.

If it was a Honda fairing the wiring will be behind the cast iron weight attached to the forks. If it was a Vetter the junk wiring will just plugged into the original harness.

It was a Honda fairing and I got the weight off and revealed a bunch of wiring like you said. I'm just not sure what to connect the to.

You will not use the weight. It is to counter weigh the fairing.
The plugs should be plug and play.

I removed the weight to expose the wiring. Now it's just a matter of removing the sub-harness from it all. Figured out the headlight. Just gotta figure out the turn signal wires and according the fairing install manual there are ignition connectors to. Just trying to figure out thoes.

Just an update, but I have finished the project and it looks great. I'll post pics up later. Thanks to all who took the time to read this and post a reply.
