80 GL1100 Final Drive to Shaft

Post by 80wing »

Hello everyone,
Am new to this forum and just recently acquired my second bike ever 1980 GL1100 running but with some issues. Currently while removing final drive for rear wheel removal I found out that the o-ring facing the shaft had been smashed up by what looks like previous tire change perhaps. Not sure if am explaining myself clearly about what am needing either. I googled my issue an found an article about same issue am having within this forum. Upon signing up the other day and logging back on today I seem to be having difficulties finding this topic on this forum. Would someone be kind enough to guide me to the correct original post or guidance towards what part number or oring size I need that is comparable? Thanks in advance.

Size is 60.5x2.4 discontinued at Honda. Amazon has 60x2.4 should work fine. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=oring+60+x2. ... ingdocs-20

Just did my '80 GL1100. Factory spec is 47 mm x 2.5 mm. They are hard to find. Ace Hardware has 1-7/8 " x 3/32 " SAE dimension for under $2. Close enough... works well.
I have seen other threads with the 60 mm vs. 47 mm confusion. Must be different year variations. Measure the actual O-ring groove to be sure.
