Hi there chaps,
I have an 81 GL1100 interstate and since the day I bought it it didn't have a centre stand and yesterday I had it delivered to me and I was trying to see how to fit it and couldn't find were to hang it or place it.
Is there a bracket that should be attached to the bottom for the pin to pass through? Because I couldn't find anything underneath mine
Thanks

Re: GL1100 fitting the centre stand
The center stand pivots on a cross tube under the bike. The cross tube goes thru the center of the centerstand,s upper tube. Lubricate these concentric tubes upon reassembly. The cross tube is held in the bike's frame by a pinch bolt on each side.
Perhaps the cross tube was not part of your replacement kit. And perhaps the original cross tube was discarded by who ever removed the original centerstand.
Here is a link to WingAdmin's howto on lubricating the centerstand. It has lots of pics that will help you see what's missing on your bike:

Hi, before you fit the stand add a grease fitting to it. You can then add grease to it during service. Saves you having to take it off to grease. I'm sure if you search through the forum you will find out details. That's where I discovered it.

You put a light smearing of grease in there between tubes once at assembly, it'll never need it again. It's not a swing arm.Robbie1968 wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 8:45 pm Hi, before you fit the stand add a grease fitting to it. You can then add grease to it during service.
