Axle bolt and calipers??

Post by Psycheonabike »

Refitting front wheel....as soon as I tighten up the axle bolt this removes possibility of right side of axle being flush with clamps and consequently discs not aligned in calipers. Loosen axle bolt and all is well realignment....until it comes to tighten it again.

What am I doing wrong? I read something somewhere about moving the fork legs??

The axle should be tightened before the wheel is installed. Then when the end caps are installed the right side should align itself and you might have to move the left fork leg in or out a bit to center it in the caliper bracket. That is if my memory serves me correctly, it could be the opposite.

Ok but...........like I said in my OP there's no room to move the axle any further right which would move it away from the offending left caliper. The axle bolt just slides against the bottom of the fork.
