1983 GL 1100a
If it sits for more than 5 days, my battery drains and I can't start it until I put a charger on it.
Any Ideas??????

Re: Battery drain
Two possibilities... Bad battery, or unexpected drain in the circuits.
Disconnect the battery, then charge it, then let it sit for 5 days. Monitor the battery voltage, and you might have your answer before the five days. Does the battery self discharge... Yes = bad battery.
If the battery remains strong by itself, then test for a leak in the wiring. First step, remove one fuse at a time. Either measure current draw, or watch battery voltage over time. See if that identifies which branch circuit to examine.

Re: Battery drain
I recently bought a gl1100 1983 and it had an issue with the battery (dead in two days) It turned out to be a battery drain / parasitic draw (about 1000 mA) due to an incorrectly connected radio. Check the battery as just described if that is ok it could be a bad connection in the system. My advice for what it's worth. With the key in the off position disconnect the negative terminal and with a multimeter measure the current between the battery terminal and the disconnected cable - it should be virtually zero. If above 100 milli amps you have a short
