Best exhaust for 1100

Post by Chiller449 »

I’ve removed the baffles out of my stock exhaust but it’s just not loud enough. One guy I was talking to said he used Harley sportster mufflers and it sounded really good. Any suggestions?

The bike is naked. Has a us army paint job. It needs louder pipes. Loud bikes save lives. If I was keeping it a cruiser I might be content with the stock pipes but I can barely hear my own bike riding down the road.

Haven’t you heard the saying:
Gold Wings are seen but not heard!

They sell the tee shirts on eBay...
Have a nice day! :)

If it’s a cruiser I understand. But no one wants a quiet cafe racer. I’ve seen a few on YouTube that sounded like a a corvette lol. They never say what pipes they used though. Today while wrapping the pipes in exhaust wrap (FYI make sure you wear rubber gloves while doing this. I completely forgot and after wrapping the first one my hands and arms were burning pretty good.) I cut the last 10 inch or so small straight pipe off. The one right after the muffler. Mostly because I couldn’t get the wrap to stay on that aggressive slope. I’m hoping this might help a bit as I noticed there was another reduction inside this pipe even after I removed the baffle. If that don’t work I’ll have to drill some holes inside the end of the muffler. I’ll post the results after the single carb conversion is complete. I know I’m not the only one searching for louder pipes on my wing!

Look up in the "how to" articles. There is a thread on how to install the Harley mufflers.
