What's this cover? What are the torque values?

Post by bofler »

What's behind this cover (see photo) next to the fuel pump? Also, torque values for those cover bolts? I'm guessing 7-10 ft-lb, as that seems to be the norm for that size. Reason I'm asking is because the PO installed chrome cover plates on the side and I had to remove a few bolts that were used as anchor points. Need to get everything back together now and my Clymer book says nothing about these.

That's the fuel pump/tachometer drive housing. The bolts are torqued to 9 ft/lbs

Actually, the part with the red arrow bolted to the block is called "Final Gear Cover" in the exploded parts list. The fuel pump / tach drive housing bolts to the cyl head. Bolt torque should be same though.

You're right. The first thing I focused on was the fuel pump housing in the picture and didn't even notice the arrow. Guess I need to look at these posts on my decktop computer instead of a phone! Sorry Denver, good catch on that.

Thanks Denver Winger. I was quite sure it was something else, because I know where the fuel pump / tach drive are. Guess the pic was confusing because it was from the book and had the black arrows from the book and then my red arrow.
