Digital gauge for 82 Goldwing RPM cable problem
Hello all. So I bought a digital gauge off of eBay to replace my originals on my bike. I completely forgot to make sure it has a hookup on the back for the rpm cable. Sure enough when it arrived it does not have the input. Only wires. I remember someone saying 83 Aspencades came with a digital dash. How does the stock digital gauge get the rpm reading from the motor? Is it just a module or something that goes where the cable goes? Can I just put that on my bike and use that input to my new gauge? I can’t return the gauge I bought. They will only give me 30 percent of what I paid. I’ll sell it if I have to.

Most aftermarket tachs can use any type of ignition signal from the negative coil terminal. There should be a switch to select number of cylinders and maybe even 2-4 stroke. Since this is a wasted spark system the sparks are doubled, but since there are dual coils it should read right if set to 4 cyl.

That’s a good idea I didn’t even think of that. I did the dodge neon coil conversion since I’m running a single carb. I’ll have to tinker with it I guess. Thanks for the help
