Fork TUBE compatibility between standard and TRAC forks.

Post by Kanevex »

Good Afternoon, all,

I have a question about whether I can use earlier (1981/1982) fork tube assemblies with my 1983 TRAC fork bottom assemblies.

The 1983 fork tubes are pitted, rusty, and beyond any reasonable repair, so I located a set of non-TRAC fork assemblies (with beautiful, straight, non-pitted tubes) but now I am concerned that the fork tubes are not compatible between the two systems. Has anyone dealt with this issue before?

(PS, You guys have been a great help getting this old 1983 GL1100I back to running, and safe condition.)

You could try measuring the fork diameter. Thar way you can see if they'll bolt in.

Oops. I reread your post and I see that you're trying to combine the different parts. I though you were wanting to swap the whole fork assemblies.
